In memory of Holly Wells, who was murdered in Soham, August 2002. The Well’s family life will never be the same, with a grey cloud always in the sky. Heaven may have a new star, but the Wells have lost a ray of sunshine.

Aims of competition
- To publish a book of poetry by children for children
- To decrease fear of talking about death and loss
- To increase understanding about issues that bereaved children face
- To provide teacher support
- How young people can support each other by developing empathy
What young people need to do
Write a poem about being bereaved in any form you like, with 200 word max. It can be real or imaginary but must be your own unpublished work. The poem could be about your own experience, or about another’s experience. It may be about supporting and advising the bereaved. It may focus on giving a message or increasing awareness about bereaved children’s issues.
Prizes
The prizes are to include:
- Winning entries will be published
- Signed 1st edition
- You may see your name/school name in print in the newspaper/website
- £1000 for schools with the most entries, Apple iPods, Nintendo Wiis, Waterstones vouchers, WHSmiths vouchers …and more!
Launch and Closing Date
The competition launch is on the 24th February 2009 and closes on the 26th of June 2009. All Entries must be on official entry forms. Judging will occur during July and August with the results announced on the 17th September 2009
