www.kids.widow.ie

I would like to tell you about a new website that has just gone online. Its called www.kids.widow.ie/forum. It’s for young people who have lost someone close to them and are finding it hard to talk to adults. The founder is a 16 year old girl called Lauren who lost her father to cancer in May 2009. Her mother joined a group called “widow.ie” which was set up to help widows and widowers. A place to contact others like themselves. In January, Lauren contacted the founder of widow.ie with the idea of setting up a similar site for young people and within hours it was up and running. It is forum based, just sign up and click on the introduction section. Write a bit about yourself and about the person you have lost. And then just write about anything you want. When you lose someone, whether its suddenly or from a long term illness like cancer, it's hard enough to deal with when you can talk to others around you, but what if you can’t? You begin to think that no-one else in the world is going through what you are, well this site is for people like you. Here you can talk to people who are experiencing the same feelings as you. You won’t feel so alone, so out of place, or so isolated. www.kids.widow.ie/forum is a site FOR young people BY young people.
